Recently, these companies have reduced the prices of EV cars and launched them in a reasonable price bracket for Indian users. This will help many customers to buy an electric version of the car at low-cost. Here’s the list of the most affordable electric cars in India that you can buy with standard 3.3 kW or 7.4 kW Fast AC Home wall charger and get range of 180-190 kms in 1 single charge.
#1. Comet EV
MG’s Comet EV is a compact 4 seater car (no boot space). It comes with a 17.2 kWh battery capacity that offers a range of 180-190 km in real world. Since it is a compact Nano type car, you can consider it for busy cities where traffic jams are a common and major problem. You can easily drive this car and get rid of traffic problems.
This car is specially designed by the MG for city commute (within 50-60km) for cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Noida, Gurugram, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Pune, etc. You can take it to your office or even you can prefer this vehicles to drop your kids at the school. In addition to that, you can easily park it at the parking areas.
It is available in 3 variants named – Executive, Excite, and Exclusive. The Executive model is priced (ex-showroom) at Rs 6.99 lakh, while the Excite and Exclusive are moderately priced Rs 7.89 and Rs 8.59 respectively.
Note: This car only accepts AC charging of 3.3 kW & 7.4 kW. DC charging not accepted by Comet EV, hence you can’t even think to take it on long trip. It is a purely city based car, which you can charge only at home.
#2. Tiago EV
Next in this list, Tiago EV dominates the Ev car market and #1 choice in budget segment electric cars. This car is a best option if you have been looking for a complete family car. This car has 5 seats instead of 4 seats, offers better space, a big size boot space and even you can charge it via DC fast charger at the nearest EV charging stations.
This car comes packed with a battery capacity of 19.2 kWh and offers range of 180-190 kms in real world. Another model named as LR (long range ) comes with 24 kWh battery capacity and this one offers the range of 240-260 kms in full charge.
Apart from that, the Tiago EV has broader tyres of R14 profile, and it is a 3 star rated EV car, which means the build quality is better than other entry level electric cars.
This car has 5 variants named XE, XT MR, XT LR, XZ+ LR, and XZ+ Tech Lux. Under the budget of 10 lakh, you can consider XE MR and XT MR variants. The ex-showroom price of the XE variant is 7.99 lakh, while the 2nd base model XT MR will cost you around 8.99 lakh.
The XT variant of Tiago EV is a value for money model as it is packed with all features – all power windows, infotainment system, central locking, airbags, antenna and more. Though you are not interested in XT MR, you can still consider XE MR and hire a professional car mechanic for the infotainment installation and save a lot of money.

#3. Alto K10 EV or Alto EV (Upcoming)
Maruti dominates the car market in India. This is the only company in India that sells the most cars to customers each and every month. Hence, the company is planning to launch an electric version of Alto EV which will be the most affordable car in India, even 10-15% cheaper than Comet EV which starts at 6.99 lakh.
In Japan Mobility Show 2023, the company had unveiled its new electric car lineup and made clear that by 2030, the company will launch 6 new EV cars including the Alto.
From these details, we can expect that the Alto EV will come with a 17.2 kWh-19.2 kWh battery pack in the base model and it will offer a range of 200 km on 1 charge. While the upper variants will be packed with a 24 kWh battery pack and offer more range above 200 km.

#4. Kwid EV (Upcoming)
Renault announced the electric version of Kwid will be launched by 2025. And once it happens, this car will directly compete with Comet EV and Tiago EV.
It has been speculated that the Kwid’s EV version will be more futuristic and include some of the advanced technologies that many companies already provide. According to certain reports, the forthcoming electric Kwid will likely retain the same model signature style as the current ICE. However, it is projected to have new bumpers, updated lights, and appealing grilles on both ends that display the EV.
Apart from that, the price of this car will also cost less than MG and Tata motor cars. As per experts, the base model of Kwid EV will cost around Rs. 6.49 lakh only.
#5. Grand i10 EV (Upcoming)
If you are looking for a good-looking and spacious hatchback car with good build quality and fair boot space, then no other brand’s car can compete with Hyundai i10 EV. Though there is no announcement yet made by the company regarding the i10 EV, but if the company wants to be part of the current market trend, then they have to launch it soon.
As per the car experts who closely analyze the car market trends, the price of the Grand i10 EV car will start from 8.49 lakh and the top model will end at 12.49 lakh. Still there are no comments on Grand i10 EV from Hyundai, but it is expected to launch somewhere in 2029-2030.
