MG Comet EV is an entry level city based electric car, which you can buy within the budget of Rs 10 lakh. This car comes in 5 variants and out of them 2 variants support fast charging. The base model is Executive (earlier known as Pace) 2nd base model is Excite (earlier known as Play), 3rd  model is Excite FC, 4rth is Exclusive (earlier known as Plush), and 5th is Exclusive FC which is top model of MG Comet.

Since this car is quite compact, promise good range, and good for city ride.  It is the first choice among people who live in congested cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. With major update in fast charging segment, now MG comet can be charged quickly with 7.4 kW AC charger.

The Comet EV was earlier available in 3 variants – Pace, Play, and Plush, which now have been replaced with Executive, Excite and Exclusive. Among them now both Excite and Exclusive variants are also available in fast-charging and listed on company’s website as Excite FC and Exclusive FC.

The base model of the MG comer EV car is quite enough for daily use, but still, if you want more, then here’s what you will get in the play model of comet EV:

  1. In the play model, it will be available in 3 color options like White, Silver, and the third one is Black.
  2. The front and rear side lights will be replaced with LED lights. You can also find the touch up of LED lights in the bonnet area and at the rear side of the comet EV car too. Moreover, the fog lights are also provided at the front and back!
  3. Inside the cabin of the car, in addition to the main display, you will get a 10.25-inch touch display, which you can use to play music, for navigation, and to watch movies in your free time. As this is a connected display, you can check the weather, cricket score, latest news by voice command.
  4. With this infotainment, you will also get USB ports which you can use to connect your mobile or for charging purposes.
  5. The steering wheel will now be wrapped in leather, which provides good grip.

Regarding the price, the Excite model of Comet EV will cost 13% more than the Executive model. So overall, you are paying 13% extra just to get the LED lights, infotainment system and leather wrap on steering wheel.

This is a fast charging variant of Comet EV. It has everything same as Excite + fast AC charging capability now added. Using 7.4 kW AC fast charger, you can charge Comet EV FC variant in 3.5 hours from 0-100%.

For this variant, you have to pay Rs 36,000 extra. And this seems a pretty good deal as you can save a lot of time on charging and in case of emergency you can charge this variant outside home at the fast charging stations (earlier home was the hope as MG Comet EV used to support 3.3 kW AC charger).

What’s More in the MG Comet EV Exclusive model?

The Exclusive is second last top model of MG comet EV and in this model you will get 5 extra features as compared to the play model. These features are:

  1. From this model, you can start getting the EV Comet in dual color options which are: White with Black, and Green with Black. In total, the plush mode will offer 5 colors – the 2 just mentioned and 3 are White, Silver, and Black.
  2. With this model, you will get an intelligent key which is a square diagonal shaped gadget with 3 buttons for lock, unlock and to open the tailgate.
  3. Because you are carrying the intelligent key in pocket, this variant will allow smart start without a key. Just press the brake pedal 2 times and the car will start without a key.
  4. In this model, you will get the option to tilt the steering as per your drive seat or height.
  5. Lastly, in this top model, you will get a rear parking camera which works when you drive the car in reverse. The footage of the reverse camera will be displayed on the touch display, so you can easily reverse the car without any blunder.

Regarding the price, the Exclusive model of Comet EV will cost 23% extra than the Executive model. So here, you are paying 23% extra just to get the rear parking camera, tilt steering, and the intelligent key which allow you to start car without inserting key!

This is the top model of Comet EV with fast charging facility. It has everything same as Excluvsive + fast AC charging capability now added which gives a special status among other variants. Using 7.4 kW AC fast charger, you can charge MG Comet Exclusive FC from 0-100% in 3.5 hours only.

For this variant, you have to pay Rs 36,000 extra. And this seems a pretty good deal as you can save a lot of time on charging and in case of emergency you can charge this variant outside home at the fast charging stations (earlier home was the hope as MG Comet EV used to support 3.3 kW AC charger).

Final Words

The starting price of MG Comet EV is INR 6.98 lakh for the base model, INR 7.88 lakh for the second base model, INR 8.58 lakh for the Exclusive model and INR 9.13 Lakh for Exclusive FC (Top Model). As this is just a city-based car, we recommend go for the base model as it is good enough for daily commuting from home to office or office to home (within 30KM). Even if you need a car just to drop kids at school then there is no better option in the market, as it is quite easy to drive and can be charged easily at home with a 3.3KW AC charger.
