Now have a look at the MG Comet EV charging time with charging options of 3.3kW and 7.4kW:
If we talk about its range, Comet EV gives you a range of approximately 180-200 kilometers (on road) in a single charge. This car comes with 17.3kWh battery pack and to charge it, the company provides you 2 charging options – one is of 3.3 kW AC standard charger and the other one 7.4 kW AC fast charger.
Note: The fast charging option of 7.4kW AC is only available in 2nd based and top model.
A 3.3 kW charger can charge Comet EV form 0-100% within 7 hours, whereas if you want to charge your car quickly, then you can charge your car within 3.5 hours with the help of a 7.4 kW AC fast charger.
In real time scenario, you never ever charge your car from 0-100%, you take action when the car battery drops to 20%. So in this case, if you use 3.3kW AC charge, then your car will be charged from 20-100% within in 5 to 5.5 hours, whereas if you use 7.4kW AC fast charger to charge Comet EV from 20-100% then it will take 2.5 to 3 hours.
MG Comet EV Charging Options | 0-100% | 20-100% |
3.3 kW AC | 7 hour | 5 hours |
7.4 kW AC Fast | 3.5 hours | 2.5 hours |
Because this car accepts only AC charging, you cannot apply DC charger on it and that is why you cannot charge it at outside stations. In most of the cases, it has been seen that the charging stations do not provide AC charger facility, they provide only DC charger which starts from 7.2 KW. So in such a situation, if you are thinking that I can take my Comet EV car outside and charge it, then it can be very risky and frustrating.
This is the reason, MG Comet EV has been called a pure city car so that you can easily charge this car at home in your city location where you are staying. The 7.4 kW charging option is there which added recently. The company has provided this keeping in mind that you can charge the car as soon as possible.
So this was about the charging time and charging options of MG Comet TV. Currently, the company is providing only two charging options in it, but in the coming time, when more efforts are being made or new tech arrive, the company might provide the facility of DC charging in the new Comet Ev variants.
