On the occasion of Investor Day 2024, Kia’s president and CEO Ho Sung Song announced that to meet diverse demands, two new models including Carens EV will be launched in the Indian market by 2025. Apart from this, it has also been confirmed that the Kia EV6 will also be launched by the end of 2024 in India.
This is being done so that the increasing demand for EV cars in India can be met, and a good base is established in advance so that people can get featured pack EV cars as soon as possible. During the event, the Kia President revealed that the new Carens EV (LHD and RHD) will be manufactured in India and also expected to be exported to different parts of the world.
This way, India will get big benefits from this decision: 1) The public of India will get a made-in-India car, 2) There is a good job opportunity for the people here.
So for now, it has been confirmed by the Kia CEO that the Kia Carens EV will be launched by 2025. Along with this, there is a plan to launch the Kia Calvis EV in 2025 and the Kia EV9 will be launched this year by the end of 2024.
If we move ahead, Kia has big plans to launch around 15 EV-based cars by the end of 2027, and the company will start it from this year onwards with the launch of the Kia EV3. Thereafter, additional models such as the EV2, EV4, and EV5 will be introduced in the Indian car market.
In terms of sales, Kia has already made a solid plan, and they have the goal to sell 587,000 units of mass EV models by 2026. The aim is for these mass-produced EV models to make up 66% of the total EV sales in that year.

Carens EV Price
As the Carens EV will offer a range of 500-600 km in a single charge, it is being estimated that the Carens EV car price can be between Rs 22 Lakh to Rs 30 Lakh, depending on which variant you’ll purchase.
There can be a big difference in the price of each variant, but the base model of the Carens EV will be available for Rs 22-25 lakh, and as the features increase, the final price can go up to Rs 30 lakh.
In this price segment, Kia’s Carens EV will compete with Hyundai Creta EV, Honda Elevate EV, Mahindra XUV.e8, MG ZS EV, Maruti eVX, and Tata Curvv.
The decision to launch new EV cars in the upcoming years is the best and a good move. This will help Kia to hold a good position in the EV car market in India, and this move will help to generate good revenue. As Kia is doing very well in petrol-based variants and is giving good competition to big vehicles or big brands that are already in India, by launching new EVs in advance with great features and an eye-popping price tag, Kia will capture a significant portion of the EV car market!
Finally, the confirmed news is that the Carens EV will be launched by 2025, and 1 more EV, the Calvis EV, will also be an option for customers as it will also be surfaced by Kia Motors next year in the Indian market. So those who are waiting for a new EV under a budget of Rs 25 lakh, wait for a few months, and then book the best one for you!
