Do EV cars get toll discounts in India? Do you need to pay toll tax on national highway while driving electric car? Toll tax is a charge levied on vehicles using specific roadways like National Highways, State Highways, Expressways, and Bridges and Tunnels. So it doesn’t matter, what type of car your are driving – is it petrol car? or electric car? or CNG car? you have to pay the toll fee.
So if you are confused about Is EV car Toll free in India? then NO, EV car is not Toll free in India. There is no such notification or policy released by Government regarding EV Toll Exemption in India. You have to pay the toll fee at the toll either by cash (2x price) or by FasTag.
There is no exemption on Toll fee for electric cars. However; if you are local residence (around 16KM), then you can make your vehicle toll free.
Apart from that, by making monthly pass you can reduce the toll tax fee. There is no extra facility provided to EV car owners by the Government on toll tax. The simple rule is that if you have a car you have to pay toll fees, you can’t run away from it!
